FM-09: SAW KICKS BACK, CLIMBS, OR WALKS BACKWARD

The saw exhibits kickback behavior: it suddenly lifts, jumps toward the operator, climbs out of the kerf, or walks backward due to blade pinching or twisting.

• Kerf closes on the blade from poor support
• Blade is dull, damaged, or misaligned

1. A properly supported test cut tracks forward without pinch, climb, backward motion, or shifting adjustments.

1. Remove the battery and identify the pinch or twist: check panel support, kerf closure, blade condition, blade seating, and tight depth and bevel locks.
2. Correct support on both sides near the cut, set one-tooth depth, fit a sharp correct blade, and center the blade in the kerf before any restart.
3. Make a fresh controlled test with both hands and your body to one side of the blade; repeat kickback means stop use and qualified inspection.
4. Release the trigger and hold the saw motionless in the material until the blade completely stops; never pull the saw backward while the blade moves.
