FM-32: Smoke emerges from the tool during operation

Smoke or a burning electrical odor comes from the sander body rather than the dust bag.

• Motor, fan, wiring, or control failure
• Internal dust ignition
• Shorted terminal or damaged battery interface
• Seized drive causing overheating

1. The tool is not energized again and the hazard is safely contained.

1. Set O, remove the battery if it is safe, and place the tool away from combustibles.
2. Do not restart, open, cool with liquid, or breathe the smoke.
3. If fire continues or the battery is involved, evacuate and call emergency services.
4. After cooling, isolate the tool and battery for authorized evaluation or disposal.
