FM-29: Dust collector begins to smolder

Smoke, glowing material, or a smoldering odor comes from collected sanding dust or the bag.

• Fine finish-coated dust self-heated
• Bag was not emptied frequently
• Hot debris or sparks entered the collector
• Incompatible material was sanded

1. The hazard is fully extinguished, cooled, and the damaged collector is not reused.

1. Stop sanding, set O, remove the battery if safe, and keep the collector away from combustibles.
2. - Do not open or empty a smoking bag indoors
3. Extinguish or call emergency services as conditions require, then allow everything to cool fully.
4. Replace any damaged collector and correct the material-specific dust plan before reuse.
